HOPE/Zell Miller Programs

HOPE (Helping Outstanding Pupils Educationally) is Georgia’s scholarship and grant program that provides financial assistance for degree, diploma, and certificate programs at eligible public and private colleges, universities, and technical colleges.

Funded entirely by the Georgia Lottery for Education, the HOPE Program has awarded more than $6.4 billion to over 1.5 million students since its inception in 1993. Students may benefit from HOPE in multiple ways, including utilizing the HOPE Scholarship and Zell Miller Scholarship for in-state 4-year school funding, and the HOPE Grant and Zell Miller Grant for in-state 2-year school funding.

Scholarship GPA Information

The Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC) calculates the HOPE GPA using only unweighted grades from core academic courses (English, math, science, social studies, and world languages). Final GPA data is submitted by the high school to GSFC by June 30 of a student’s senior year.

GSFC cannot alter GPA data. Any errors or discrepancies must be corrected by the high school and resubmitted.

Students can view their HOPE or Zell Miller GPA by logging into their My GAfutures account at:

Grant GPA Information

The HOPE Grant provides financial assistance to students enrolled in certificate and diploma programs at Georgia public technical colleges. Unlike the HOPE Scholarship, the HOPE Grant does not require a minimum GPA for initial eligibility. Students must, however, maintain satisfactory academic progress as determined by their institution to continue receiving the grant. This program supports students pursuing career-focused training in high-demand fields.
