The military offers opportunities for career training, education funding, leadership development, and service to the nation. Below are key resources to help students and families learn more and make informed decisions.

Enlistment Information
Students interested in enlisting should connect with a local recruiter and review basic requirements:
- Most applicants must be at least 17 years old
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Must have or be in progress of a high school diploma or GED
- Must pass a medical exam, fitness requirements, and the ASVAB

Service Academies (Military Colleges)
The U.S. Service Academies provide a fully funded college education in exchange for military service after graduation.
Academies include:
- U.S. Military Academy (West Point) – Army
- U.S. Naval Academy – Navy/Marine Corps
- U.S. Air Force Academy – Air Force/Space Force
- U.S. Coast Guard Academy
- U.S. Merchant Marine Academy
Key facts:

- Most require a Congressional nomination
- Students receive tuition, housing, and a stipend

ROTC (Reserve Officers’ Training Corps)
ROTC allows students to attend college while training to become military officers.
Benefits include:
- Scholarships that may cover full tuition or room and board
- Monthly stipends and book allowances
- Leadership training during college

Application Process (general):
- Apply during junior/senior year of high school
- Submit transcript, test scores, and application
- Complete an interview and fitness assessment
- Selection is based on academics, leadership, and extracurriculars

What is the ASVAB?
