Tutoring & Resources
As a service to our students, Northview High School has compiled a list of tutors who have indicated they offer tutoring services. Northview High School does not endorse any specific tutor. Additionally, we are not familiar with all individuals or companies listed. We recommend using the questions below to help you select the best tutoring support for your child.
Questions to Ask Potential Tutors or Facilities:
- Can you provide written information about your qualifications, degrees, areas of expertise, and/or teaching experience?
- Can you provide references?
When contacting references, consider asking:
- How satisfied were you with this tutor or facility?
- What kind of progress did your child make?
- Did your child enjoy attending tutoring sessions?
- Do you feel the tutor or facility was committed to helping your child succeed?
Additional questions to ask tutors or facilities:
- What services do you provide?
- How is my child assessed?
- Can I share existing test results (e.g., Iowa Test of Basic Skills, Criterion Referenced Test, PSAT)?
- Is testing required to participate? If so, what is the cost?
- Where will tutoring sessions be held? (Ask to see the location.)
- Will my child work with the same tutor each session?
- What is the hourly cost, and does it include additional support (e.g., study skills, time management, organization)?
- How many sessions do you recommend for my child?
- How often will I receive updates on my child’s progress?
